Users earn rewards as if they were running the nodes themselves. This simplifies participation, ensuring everyone benefits from node operation rewards without the technical setup. It provides a sustainable and scalable reward model that rewards both early and significant contributions.

Node Examples by Type

Mainnet Nodes

Mainnet nodes are more than just high-value assets; they are a testament to your commitment and contribution to the network. Allocated based on your node operation size and current availability, they replace testnet nodes assigned during initial setup, reflecting your growing influence. These nodes are responsible for processing real transactions and requests that people depend on. These nodes offer the greatest and most consistent rewards.

Testnet Nodes

Automatically assigned during initial setup, testnet nodes are your entry into the Messiah ecosystem, allowing you to start contributing immediately. These nodes often don’t have a reward structure that is predictable as they support the development of projects, but they play no less important role than a mainnet node.

Taiko Testnet Node Rewards

Taiko Alpha-2 Testnet

  • Overview: During the Alpha-2 testnet, Taiko rewarded node operators, specifically provers, with USDC. The total reward pool was 25,000 USDC, distributed proportionally based on the number of blocks each prover successfully proved out of 140,404 blocks. This system ensured that participants were compensated for their computational efforts, encouraging ongoing participation and contribution to the network’s stability.
  • Prover Rewards: Provers received test tokens (TTKO) during the testnet, which were redeemable for USDC. This was done to ensure fairness and to motivate active participation in proving blocks. The details of the distribution were carefully designed to ensure equity among early and late provers.

Node Operator Incentives

  • Role of Nodes:

    • Sentry Nodes: These nodes are crucial for monitoring the XAI rollup protocol. They observe and validate transactions, ensuring that any incorrect blocks are flagged for review. This role is essential for maintaining the integrity and security of the network.
  • Reward Mechanisms:

    • Network Rewards: Operators of Sentry nodes are rewarded based on their participation in network activities. The rewards are distributed in the form of esXAI (escrowed XAI) and distributed in ETH. These rewards are accrued based on the performance and uptime of the nodes and token exchanged.
    • Performance-Based Rewards: Rewards are tied to the node’s activity and reliability. Operators who maintain high uptime and efficient performance receive higher rewards. This system ensures that nodes contributing significantly to the network’s stability are adequately compensated.
    • Early Adopter Grants: The XAI Foundation offers grants to early adopters and node operators who contribute to the network’s initial stages. These grants are designed to incentivize early participation and support the growth of the network.
